It was a true answered prayer when Mr. Kammak, a respected elderly gentleman, was willing to jump in with the Mentor Leaders family in north Togo at our village to take a massive leadership role as our School Director. Since 2023 his role and stewardship were a faithful blessing - then one of our own suffered a medical crisis: Kammak suffered an aneurysm, and we're truly grateful that our merciful Heavenly Father graced us for this emergency since we were able to get him in time for the life-saving surgery in the only hospital advanced enough to rescue his life (located 12 hours away in the capital city) - praise God his life was spared and leave time so his loved ones to be at his side. He fell into a coma and was prayed for and visited constantly. Despite it looking up for a time, precious Djatika Kammak did go home to be with Jesus on the last Sunday in March of 2025, where there is no sorrow or sighing, and where every tear is wiped away from our eyes.
While we grieve together, Mentor Leaders cares deeply for our own and is taking responsibility for his medical care so that his family doesn't have to bear the double burden of the loss of an amazing Christian man and the impossible financial burden on his widow (please see James 1:27 for why we cannot allow her to go at this alone!). Due to the dramatic nature of the medical event we are obeying the command in Galatians 6:2, that we should shoulder one another's burdens.
Our Togo campus would simply not be the same without the unmatched contribution of Mr. Kammak and his love for the vision and children of Togo; this man leaves a legacy that won't be forgotten. We kindly ask our partners to help toward the needed $12,000 total to cover medical expenses and complex treatments needed for the hospital to adequately care for him, for which we're grateful since more time was added to say goodbye for those on earth and we're putting faith in God again that He'll somehow use this tragedy to birth something good.
Thank you in advance for your compassion and hearts to help those who cannot help themselves!
"and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."
